As long as it is called Today: Christian home keepers (November)

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

This is the link to last week's question.

Today's question: Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Share your plans. Do you prepare the meal? Do you have a traditional meal? What is your "must have" dish? Is there a special dish you prepare that everyone requests?

My answer: We go to my Mom's house and she does the cooking. She asks us for our requests. I wanted sweet potatoes with marshmallows (this is something I've just started liking), my husband asked for mashed potatoes and pecan pie, and Caleb asked for veggies and "pie" (pie is really fudge, he called it pie when he was little so we still call it that). One thing I often make at Thanksgiving is broccoli salad. I haven't gotten the ingredients, so I don't guess I'll make it this year! I really like the flavor though.

Thank you for coming by and answering the question today. Remember to say a prayer for Rachel and Cade (see Proverbs & Prayers post for other information). They are both having surgery today.
Have a day of blessings!

As long as it is called Today: Christian parents (November)

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Here is the link to last week's question.

Today's question: What Thanksgiving memories do you remember from childhood or do you have with your own children?

My answer: As a child I remember making a "thankful picture" every year. Now I do that with Caleb. We have progressed through the years in how we did this. At first I cut things out of magazines that he liked at that time and we put them on paper. I think it is a good thing to take time to talk about thankfulness with our children.

I look forward to your ideas.

Today's question: Share a reason you are thankful for your spouse.

My answer: I'm thankful my husband supports me in what I do as a stay at home Mom. He is understanding and always willing to help out with something around the house if I'm not feeling well. He is such an encourager and I'm thankful for that too.

I look forward to reading your answers.

1 C. pumpkin pie filling

Add and mix:
1 2/3 Cup flour
2/4 Cup sugar
1 T. pumpkin pie spice
1 t. baking soda

1 Cup chocolate chips
Bake 20-25 minutes at 350.
Hope you enjoy these. I look forward to reading other fall recipes!

Here is the link to last week's question

Today's question: What does it mean to you to be a Christian?

My answer: To me being a Christian means following Christ's example of living in all I do. I know I'm not going to get it all right. but I know I can keep trying and working towards that. Being a Christian is something you are daily, not just on Sunday's or not just on paper because it sounds good.

I hope you will join in and give your answer today. Thanks for participating.

I have some book reviews I'll be posting plus book giveaways sometime soon!

As long as it is called Today: Random

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Here is a link to last week's post.

Since today is the fifth Tuesday of the month we'll have a special question (not related to the themes of the other four Tuesdays).

This week's question: Share something special you do in the fall or a special fall memory.

My answer: I love seeing the fall decorations on porches and businesses. One tradition I like is to pick a pumpkin each year. It sits on the porch and then we have fun carving it together.

As long as it is called Today: Christian home keepers (September)

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christian home keepers. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Here is a link to the answer to last week's question.

Today's question: Today is the first day of fall! Do you decorate your house for fall? What special things do you do in your home to give it a touch of fall?

My answer: I have a few decorations I put out but not many. I enjoy finding new little things to hang or sit on the counter. I have painted wooden fall leaves that I hang. I have some pumpkins too that I sit out. I want to get a little scarecrow for the door. I love to see the cute fall decorations out in the stores.

I look forward to your ideas.

As long as it is called Today: Christian parents (September)

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christian parents. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Here is a link to the answer to last week's question. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Today's question: Share a funny story about your child or a child in your life.

My answer: Caleb is always doing things that bring a smile to my face and make me laugh. One thing he's done was make mud. After school he had out his crayons and tablet. I looked at what he was doing and it was a brown and black odd shape. Then he went to cut it out and stuck it on the floor. He told me don't step in the mud! Then he made another mud puddle to put by the door so Daddy would step into it on the way home. I love his creative.

I look forward to getting some laughs at the funny things your children have done!

Also, click on the link above for your chance to win a copy of Max Lucado's new book "Fearless" at Laced With Grace. I totally meant to post about this sooner and forgot to do it over the weekend! Hurry and go over to see how you can win before it's too late!

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christians. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Here is a link to last week's post.

Today's question: What is your favorite hymn and why?
My answer: I have many favorites but one in particular is "Because He Lives." This song encourages me every time we sing it. I don't know how many times we've sung this on a Sunday morning, and it touched me and brought peace to my heart to know that I don't have to worry about what's happening tomorrow or next week because HE lives.
I look forward to reading your answers to this question! Thanks for participating!

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christians. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers. Today our focus is on Christian home keepers.

Here is the link to last week's question.

Today's question: What do you prepare for breakfast at your house?

My answer: Caleb doesn't like to eat the minute he gets up, his Mommy is the same way! But if I don't eat I feel sick later in the day so I do eat, just not first thing. We eat cereal, toast, pudding, fruit, and "tricky dogs" (as Caleb calls them, they are pancake wrapped sausages).
Have a good day.

My answer: I always loved to go shopping for school supplies. I still do actually! I was excited to go with Caleb to pick out his supplies. I also loved choosing what I would wear the first day. I still remember some of my first day choices!

As long as it is called Today: Christian spouses (August)

Welcome to "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christians. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

You can find last week's post here. Read the other answers or leave your own encouragement there if you have not done so yet.

Today's question: Share a special memory of your wedding day. This can be something funny, sweet, or a wedding mishap.
My answer: Our wedding was just perfect and exactly how I had dreamed and hoped it would be. One thing that is funny to me and we still laugh about is how we felt rushed at the reception and didn't get to eat and enjoy much of our cakes. My aunt made both our cakes and chocolate covered strawberries and it felt like as soon as we finished greeting everyone as they came through the cake lines and were going to sit down to eat it was time to go change to leave for our honeymoon. I loved everything about our wedding and I'm so thankful to have those sweet memories of our special day!
I look forward to reading your answers. Also be sure to check back tomorrow for a special post.

As long as it is called Today: Christian women/men (August)

It's time again for "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christians. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

You can find last week's post here.

Today's question: Please share how you study God's Word. How much time do you spend in the Word each day?

My answer: I've done various types of studies. I really enjoy book studies over a particular topic or book of the Bible. Right now I'm doing one on I Peter that is so interesting. I'm taking it slowly and have found some amazing truths. One time I did word studies and that was interesting. I do my study time/prayer time when Caleb is napping. I don't know yet how this will change when he's in school.

I look forward to reading your answers. Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!

As long as it is called Today: Christian home keepers (July)

It's time again for "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christian home keepers. I hope you will join me each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.
You can find last week's post here.
Today's question: Do you have any themes or special colors for any rooms of your home? How often do you change things around?
My answer: I don't have much in the way of decorations! One thing I would like to do is decorate in our bathroom so I look forward to your ideas on themes/colors for that! I have apples in my kitchen. I have a couple apple items, we don't have much wall space in the kitchen really though. When we first got married we had lighthouses in our living room but now we don't have decorations except for photographs. Caleb's room is John Deere.

I look forward to reading your answers. Have a great day!

You can find last week's post here.

This week's question: What bedtime traditions do you have with your children? How have these changed as your children have gotten older?

My answer: We read a story from Caleb's Bible storybook before bed and say prayers. We sometimes sing a song. I love to hear Caleb pray. His prayers are so sweet and from the heart.

Please leave your answer in the comment section. Have a great day!

It's time again for "As long as it is called Today" as we encourage one another as Christian spouses. I hope you will join me in July each week on Tuesdays as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers.

Click here to read last week's answer or to share your own.

Now for this week's question: Share what you do to care for each other when you are sick.
My answer: My husband and I are both rarely sick. He is a great support though when I don't feel well. He will cook supper or do laundry. One of the hardest times I had doing things was recovering from my c-section after Caleb was born. He was so great about changing Caleb and doing everything he could to help with him. Knowing I can count on him gives me such comfort. This week I'll get to care for him in his recovery.
Thank you for participating. I look forward to your ideas of things you do when you have a sick spouse. Maybe we can all learn something new to try to cheer up our spouses when they aren't feeling well.
