I hope your week has been blessed. Ours has been filled with blessings since the last post I did! Thank you God!
Today I am thankful for...
~ the way my husband listens to me when I talk and tell him my heart. He always does a good job of hearing me and knowing what I need.
~ my big boy choosing a book for me from the table of giveaways from his school library. After school he told me they were getting rid of some old books and he got one he thought I would like. It was one about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I loved that he thought of me and got it for me!
~ my little guy getting well! He felt warm to me Saturday evening after his party and then in the night I could tell he had fever. I stayed home from church and he just wanted to be held and kept saying Momma, Momma. Poor little guy. His fever got over 103. We prayed for him and started diffusing essential oils and rubbed some on his feet. We gave him some med and the fever did go down but then would go back up. He ate fine but did not want to do anything except sleep and lay on me. We had planned to take him to the doctor on Monday morning. But he woke up as normal as could be with no fever. He has been fine ever since!
~ having a wonderful 2nd birthday party for our boy! It was a fun day and most of the family got to attend. He had a fun time with his cousins and opening his gifts. Here are the cakes my Mom made. We thought they were amazing and tasted good too!
~ having a fun evening out at a fundraiser called Taste of Abilene. We went last year and decided to go again. It was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed the food! Caleb saw the list of participating restaraunts and was disappointed Chick fil a wasn't going to be there. He found plenty to eat and tried Firehouse Subs and loved their meatball sub!
~ reading books for fun. I finished up my last book I received to review so I've been reading library books for fun lately. (Not that the review ones aren't fun!) It's nice to be caught up with the reviews.
Have a day of blessings!

Thankful Thursday
We've had a nice week. It's gone fast for us all I think. Next week is spring break and we are looking forward to it.
This week I am thankful for...
~ my husband's sweet words to me. He's been so encouraging to me with his words, and I appreciate that so much.
~ my boy's finger being okay after his injury last Thursday. It was sore for several days. He was able to play his trumpet again by Sunday. It is still bruised.
~ my baby boy helping with the laundry. He is so cute when he will put the clothes in and out of the dryer when I am putting some in. He likes to help pull them out of the basket to help me fold and hang them. Today he had some pants he acted like he was trying to put on himself. He will put his socks down by his feet too but hasn't figured out getting the feet in the socks!
~ rain. It has stormed a couple times this week, and we received quite a bit of rain.
~ feeling better myself. Last Thursday evening my throat felt scratchy. I thought it was allergies so I gargled and took some zyrtec. It hurt worse in the night and all day Friday plus I felt achy, so I assumed it wasn't allergies. It wasn't any better by Saturday morning so I went to the clinic. I was diagnosed with strep. My husband was so wonderful to take care of everything and let me rest. I started feeling much better by Sunday afternoon.
~ plans for someone's first birthday party! Titus will be one soon, we can't believe how fast the year has gone. We are having fun making plans. The theme is books.
Have a day of blessings!

Thankful Thursday
What an interesting week this has been at our house! I'm glad to share my thankfulness, even in the midst of the crazy week.
Caleb has been sick. He started running a low grade fever Sunday night after church. He threw up in the night. Monday he was out of school and we took him to the doctor. She tested him for strep throat because that was going around. It came back negative and she said he had a virus. The fever continued Tuesday along with headaches. Poor boy. He rarely complains of anything hurting and I knew he just did not feel well at all. Tuesday A.M. Daddy left for a trip to go to get some hands-on training for his new position. Caleb napped most of the day and about 4 woke up with a high temperature and complaining of severe pain in his right side. He was not wanting to get up or walk or anything and saying how badly it was hurting so I was very concerned. I took him to the walk-in clinic. That doctor examined him and said it could be appendicitis or pneumonia in one lung and he wasn't comfortable sending me home so he sent us to the ER. Well this Momma has never taken her baby to the ER. To have him be feeling so terrible and be by myself without Daddy's help I just prayed and knew God was going to have to help me handle the situation. Caleb did not like the room and said he was feeling better, we should just go home. The doctor wanted to do a CT scan to check his abdomen, which meant Caleb had to have an IV and drink some "stuff." Daddy was on his way (he was 2.5 hours away). Gramma came and my aunt did too. I told them I was going to feel bad for them coming all that way if it turned out to be nothing. They all told me no they wanted to be there and there support was greatly appreciated. I tried to occupy Caleb as we waited on the nurses. Then they came in to do the IV. They were super nurses and I was very pleased with how they explained to him just enough of what they were doing so he would know yet not be scared. I talked to him and kept him from watching them. He did cry when they poked him. Let me tell you, he was so brave. I was so proud of him. I knew that God was with us. I can't even take him to get his shots by myself so I know God was giving us strength in that moment when we both needed it. We were working on drinking the "stuff" mixed with apple juice and Gramma arrived followed by Daddy and Sis. Daddy's boss also came to check on us, which was very much appreciated. Caleb was so brave when it was time to go to the CT scan. He rode over in a wheel chair (his first wheel chair ride). The man doing the scan explained it all to Caleb and Daddy stood with him while we watched through a window as they did the procedure. Then we waited some more. The doctor came to tell us his appendix was okay. He has some sort of virus in his intestines which was causing the pain and fever.
Today I am thankful for....
~ my amazing husband and his true love for me and Caleb. I didn't know if it was necessary for him to drive all the way back to be with us but I was so thankful he did. We needed him there.
~ my sweet boy, I am praying for him to be well and this fever to be gone. He has improved Wednesday but is still running fever.
~ the support of our family to come be with us and also their love for us and Caleb. Very special indeed and I love them so much!
~ a huge praise....at this point we believe we are signing the contract on our new house on the 22nd!! Thank you to those of you who have been praying for us.
~ the peace and strength God gave me as I was alone with Caleb. I'm so thankful it wasn't his appendix.

Proverbs & Prayers Week #46
Today's verse for this week is Proverbs 25:28--
"Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control."
Do you have any prayer requests to share this week?
Please pray for the following needs:
~ Kristi's daughter Rachel and her upcoming surgery on the 24th.
~ Cade, a little 1 year old who is having surgery on the 24th also.
~ Luke, collapsed lung.
~ my sweet Caleb. He ran a high fever on Saturday. If you didn't read my Thankful Thursday post this week, I'll tell you what is going on.....When he got home from school Tuesday, he had a high fever. We took him to the doctor and he did test negative for the flu. The fever was mild on Wednesday and Thursday he started acting more like himself. Friday he felt well and went to school. Saturday morning he acted okay. He woke up early and was getting grumpy so I had him lay down by me and we slept a while. When he woke up, we noticed he felt warm and he had a high fever. We monitored it all day, and he spent most of the day on the couch. He was up a lot in the night but had no fever. This morning he acts totally fine. So we're praying for wisdom to know what to do and how to treat him.

Caleb
Apparently Caleb has a tummy bug. After we quit the juice he was better the rest of Sunday and Monday. Tuesday night in the night he got sick though and this morning he has an upset stomach. The nurse thinks it is probably a virus. Please say a prayer for him. He acts totally fine except for stopping his play to go to the restroom.

On being sick.....
I'm never sick. And when I say never I really mean very rarely. I remember as a child how I could not stand to miss school. My Mom would always tell me "we'll see how you are in the morning." Then when it was time to get up for school and I'd be burning with fever she'd give me the verdict that no I couldn't go to school. I'd cry and tell her how much I wanted to go. Nope, I couldn't go to school with a fever! There was the time in college when I was very, very sick. It was the beginning of spring break 1998. I was going to ride to Waco with JMP to meet my family where my cousin was spending the weekend participating in a PIPS (basketball) contest. I was also to meet JMP's family for the first time. I ended up at the ER that weekend. We still laugh at how goofy I was acting on the meds I got. Last January I went to the doctor for a muscle spasm in my back. JMP commented how that was like the first time he'd had to take me to the doctor (other than pregnancy related visits). So to be sick is abnormal for me. I've heard from several how hard it is on Mom to be sick and how the world doesn't stop for us to get well either!
Today JMP went back to work. Caleb has acted better today and yesterday. His eyes were looking droopy yesterday but today he is mostly back to normal. We are counting down the doses left of his RX. I woke up feeling blah and that has continued. I even took a nap today when Caleb did this afternoon. After that I felt so energetic, I was putting up some dishes and washing a few more. It just exhausted me; I felt as if I'd been running a race. I guess that is an improvement over doing nothing yesterday!
Being sick has made me thankful I'm not sick often. I'm glad that I am here and able to be home and get well. I'm glad we are all on the mend.

Update
We went to the dr. Caleb tested positive for the flu. The dr. did not test me and was unsure what was wrong due to my symptoms and not having fever so far. We will both be starting on some RX soon. Keep us in your prayers. Remember JMP too. The dr. thought he may have had the flu orignally with his high fever and he is still trying to recover and care for us.
Memory Verse coming later
Sorry I didn't get the memory verse posted. I am not feeling well. Keep us all in your prayers. I don't know what is going on but we don't like feeling this way. I started coughing yesterday morning and feeling achy. Caleb is acting puny too. JMP is feeling some better but still coughing a lot.

Hard night
Last night Caleb got sick to his stomach. He came to our bed at midnight and was not being still at all. Then he wanted to go back to his bed so I followed him back to his room. He coughed one time and said he wanted to go to the bathroom. I'm not sure the cause of this, I guess he had a sour stomach, poor boy. We ended up all sleeping curled up on the couch. JMP got up and helped in cleaning up while I was holding Caleb. He is such a good Daddy. I kept telling him he could go back to bed, but he wanted to stay with us. He's the best!
Caleb was fine this morning. I didn't wake him up though to go to the food pantry since we'd been up 2+ hours in the night. He was so sad and kept saying," But I want to go. I want to go there." I told him Mr. C would understand. He ate normally and got dressed (in his new warm clothes from Chel and gloves from Sis) and we drove by the pantry but it was too late. We went to the bank and library. He has acted fine all day.
So the first Wednesday I wasn't able to make it to the food pantry by 8 as I put in my goals for the year. I'm just glad my boy is okay today!

Sick in the night
Caleb got sick last night starting about 2:45 and then two more times, each an hour apart. He has never thrown up before except one time after eating and it was a one time thing. I felt so terrible for him. This morning he is totally fine and running around acting normal. Daddy and I are both tired out, but we're okay and glad he's fine. We guess he either ate too much or it was caused by something he ate.
When he was in the middle of his sickness the first time, he was crying and it was making me cry. But I knew I had to be calm for Caleb's sake. He was crying out Momma, Momma. It made me feel so special when in the midst of the sickness Caleb wanted me. Of everything he could cry for he was saying my name. I remember when I was sick as a child I felt the same way. It gave me a little glimpse of how God feels (as Beth Moore wrote about on her blog recently) when we cry out to Him and call His name. It also made me think of all those Mom's who watch their children suffer through cancer or other illnesses and how their hearts must feel to see the children go through so much day after day.
I had some plans for this morning that didn't get done, but none of that really matters. We are just really glad our boy is happy and having fun playing this morning.
