Welcome to our second week of As long as it is called Today! Please read more about "As long as it is called Today" in this post. I hope you will join me each week on Friday as we encourage each other in our daily lives as Christians, spouses, parents, and home keepers. First be sure to check out everyone's answer to last week's question. I enjoyed reading the answers as well as the specialness of each of the female Bible characters.
Christian women/men (January)
Today's question: Share a way you honor your spouse. (If you want the definition for honor, here it is. It helped me as I was thinking about my answer.)
My answer: I like to make it a point to greet my husband when he comes home from work each day. If I stop what I am doing as he comes through the door, I hope this communicates to him that after he's been away all day I missed him, value his work for our family, and feel happy he is home.
Please leave your answer in the comments and be sure to come back next week to read everyone's answers and hopefully find new ways to honor your spouse.

One of the ways I honor Joel is by trying to only speak kind and uplifting words about him, even when he's not around. I have actually kind of fallen away from this recently but I know men are very careful of respect and this is a way to respect him. Thanks for the reminder. I'll get back on that.
Ohhh...this is a good question!
My answer: I always try to speak well about my husband. I always try to build him up and sing his praises to others. NO MATTER if he deserved it or not. Its been humblings... but good!
God bless-
Amanda
Bethany,
It is my hearts desire to honor Jay. I honor him in my speech and in my deeds. I try to uphold him to others and encourage him in areas where he may need it when it is just he and I. When it comes to disciplining our children, I follow his lead and if I ever differ in my opinion, I speak with him about it privately.
In actions, I always try to light candles in the home around dinner time because I feel it sets a warm tone to the home and he likes it. I greet him warmly when he comes home with great affection to let him know we have missed him.
I leave him cards on his desk from time to time and I text his phone with our love code 1-13-911 which means 1 Corinthians (I love you) and 911 (so much it's an emergency)...we get a kick out of it!
I keep in the Word to be close to Jesus because He is the key ingredient in any of this thing called marriage and honoring one another.
Thank you for the question, Bethany. God bless you!
Realizing that our needs are different... and making adjustments.
I uplift him, never tear him down.
Oh I'm so glad you've started this meme! I love reading everyone else's answers! That in itself is encouraging. I guess my little tidbit that I've been doing lately to honor my husband is... now that he works to the end of the day now (5:00 instead of getting done around 2pm) I've really been trying to step it up and take care of phone calls and other business, even if means dragging the kids along, just so Kevin doesn't have to try to find time to do that too, after he's worked a long day. It's one way of recognizing and showing appreciation for the hard work he does and taking some load off of him.
