Special!

When my son orders a Chick fil a chicken sandwich, he gets it without pickles. It comes out with a sticker like this one on the package.  This little sticker tells the customer that this chicken sandwich isn’t like all the others. There is something different about it.

One time I kept the sticker and put it in our thankful book. Another time Caleb took it off and gave it to me cause he thought I’d want to keep it. I like to see it by my mirror.

As we pray together as a family, I recently noticed our son saying the same or a similar prayer every time. I reminded him that we pray to talk to God and need to speak from our hearts. In the past he had done some amazing prayers that really surprised us to hear coming from someone so young. Back in March as we gathered as a family for a meal after Mammaw’s funeral, we were all touched at his beautiful prayer that seemed to hold such wisdom beyond his years and comfort for us all. Lately though it seemed he was just rushing through to say a few words and be done.

Lately I keep seeing “Benjamin” everywhere it seems. As I walk through stores I notice displays of personalized holiday items. It’s a habit for me to stop and look even if I won’t buy the items because I want to see if they have my name (from experience I know they more than likely do not).

Thankful Thursday: Things that make you go hmmm

Today for Thankful Thursday we are at Spiritually Unequal Marriage. Lynn's theme is "things that make you go hmmm?" What a fun theme for Thankful Thursday!

Do you ever think to yourself "I wonder why....." I have thought this many times. I wonder why God created mosquitos. I wonder what it was like on Noah's Ark or to be Daniel in the lion's den. I wonder how He knows every hair on our heads. I wonder why He made the sky blue and grass green. I'm thankful that we don't know all the answers. We don't really need to know. We just need to notice and be appreciative and someday in Heaven maybe we can ask.

This week I'm giving thanks for...

~ my husband's wisdom regarding finances. We talked about our plan of where we both want to be for the future, and I enjoyed sharing with him and hearing his thoughts.

~ my son's sweet nature. He gives the sweetest hugs and snuggles.

~ reading good books (see review and giveaway below! It's a GREAT book with a wonderful message!)

~ having umbrellas to use in the rain.

~ God's love.

Has anyone ever done something for you that you have remembered it your entire life?

Recently my Mom told me she had added a new friend to her Facebook list, Rodney, a guy she'd known since elementary school. He emailed her and told her he remembered her and their time in school together. He also shared a memory he had of her.

God cares!

There was a long to do list I’d made in preparation for our son’s fifth birthday. Besides getting things ready for the party at the park, we were also having lunch for our family back at our house. On Sunday before the party I was talking to my husband about all the things we needed to do in the coming days. I told him I hadn't even planned on calling the carpet cleaner. In previous years before his birthday party I’d schedule an appointment for our living room carpet to be cleaned as it always had several spots. I realized I hadn't even thought about doing that this year and told my husband I was okay with that. With the other stuff that needed to be done during the week, I wasn't going to worry about trying to do that too.

Monday morning the phone rang, and it was our neighbor.

Above All

Draining the bath water I could hear my son playing in the living room. As I entered the room, my happy boy was dancing around the room in his pajamas. He paused to tell me he was doing an interpretative dance. This took me by surprise. Where did my 4 year old come up with such a term? It was vaguely familiar to me, but I didn’t know why.
