Pursuing Love: Love is Patient

Pursuing Love

Click on the heart above to join us at Marsha's Musings in "Pursuing Love" over the next several weeks.

This week's topic is "Love Is Patient." Well isn't that such good timing! I've mentioned before that we do family Bible lessons together on Wednesday nights. Right now we are going through the Fruit of the Spirit. Last week was on patience. Then Friday night I realized how impatient I can be! I ran into Walgreens to pick up some pictures. The store was pretty empty and I grabbed the couple other items on sale and went to the photo counter. No one was there and I didn't see any employees around either. Then a girl walks in and asks if I needed help. I said yes and she hollered down an aisle at some lady who was pulling old price tags off of a shelf. That lady never did come and the other girl came back later and got the pictures for me. I probably wasn't there five minutes. It felt forever to me because I didn't want to stand and wait when there wasn't even a line and all I needed was my pictures grabbed off the shelf! It annoyed me as I went back to the car. Later I realized how silly it was for me to be impatient to wait on such a silly thing.

God used this to remind me that I need to be patient for His timing. I think He uses little things like this to see how we'll respond as we need more patience to wait longer or for bigger things. As I mentioned yesterday waiting is hard. I know I have got to just trust Him though as I wait.

I know from past experiences that His love has been patient with me. I want to show that love to others, both my family and strangers in line at Walgreens, by being patient with them.

Have a day of blessings!

I can sooo relate! Last year one of my friends husband challenged us to grow our patience....When you go to the store (grocery or otherwise) always choose the longest line ~ it will definately GROW your patience BUT it when you are purposely doing this FOR the LORD what I learned was it also allowed me to seek those that might need an encouraging word or a smile or maybe just whispering a prayer for them..... I can say it was a challenge but in the end it has blessed me incredibly!

Have a blessed day

I can SO relate, Bethany. As I told you earlier by e-mail, it's been one of those days...3 hours on the phone with the tech guy to restore my student's curriculum. Then 2 hours with our ministry's web designer.

It's so easy to let little things bother us. That was several hours out of my day that was not on my calendar!

I'm looking forward to pursuing love with you over the next several weeks.

Have a blessed weekend.

My kindergartner is learning the Fruit of the Spirit this week so I laughed when I read about patience because I'm the same way, my lesson is driving. It's hard, isn't it? Great post.

It is kind of funny how little things like waiting at a store can bring us to be impatient - been there :)

Thank you so much for sharing your take on patience with us.

Blessings to you and yours...
