Review: The American Patriot's Bible, NKJV

Thomas Nelson Publishers has published The American Patriot’s Bible, NKJV. This Bible is filled with examples of the role of Christianity in our Nation’s history. In a time when Christianity is being attacked by many, this is a timely publication. The stories show the role of religion in the lives of our forefathers through stories, quotes, and beautiful illustrations. Throughout the Bible are full-color two to three page inserts about a variety of subjects including the Civil War, Faith of the Founders, Bible and American Education, and Monuments to American Patriotism.

I read through the book of John as well as other various chapters and verses in this Bible. It was interesting to find the stories interspersed from various famous Americans through the pages of the Bible. I would not use this as a study Bible. It would be nice to have as a reference for some of our nation’s history. This is a very thick hardcover edition of the Bible with words that are printed in an easy-to-read font. Also included is a concordance, subject index, and a few maps. This would not be a Bible I’d purchase for myself because I have never been much of a “history buff.” However, it would make a nice gift for someone who enjoys American history.
