Song: What If His People Prayed?

I got my husband the first Casting Crowns CD for Christmas. It was the only one we didn't have yet. This song is on it. You can read the lyrics if you'd like.

We had neither heard it before we heard it at their concert back in October. It is a very powerful song though. We know there is power in prayer, but how often do we really tap into that power? It is easy to make excuses of why we don't spend more time in prayer. It is easy to get into habits and having prayer time become just a quick list of "thank you's" and "gimme's" and that's all. It is easy to push prayer aside and think "I'll do it later." The Word says to "pray continually" (I Thessalonians 5:17) It shouldn't be our last resort when challenges arise or when something wonderful happens. We should seek God first...whether those be petitions of need or hearts of thankfulness. God has so much more for us. He wants us to spend that time with Him in prayer, waiting on Him. That is one thing I plan to work on in the coming year. I don't think we can begin to fathom what God would do for us if we really sought after Him in prayer like He wants us to do.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

I think Casting Crowns has some of the best music, with the best messages. I had actually heard this song before -- I guess I have it on a CD. I had forgotten about that song, though. It has a great message!
