A new month!

I am excited that it is December. I love this time of year! We looked at the calendar last night with Caleb and showed him several upcoming activities.

Today has been a great day together. Caleb and I went to a birthday party this morning for one of his church friends. They are so cute together and like to give each other hugs. Daddy did some Christmas shopping while we were at the party (and said he had some success but wouldn't give ANY hints!!). We met at a garage sale before having lunch and going to get our Christmas tree. We had a $10 off card at Lowe's for a $25 purchase. Well the tree wasn't $25 so we bought a bush too. We got both the tree and the bush for $18---a good deal I thought! I was glad I'd kept that discount card. The boys brought home the tree and I did a little shopping. I bought myself some pants and a couple of skirts.

Tonight we decorated the tree. Caleb has been so excited for this. We have an old popcorn can with strands of lights. One of the strands of those with big bulbs was laying on the floor so I put it in the can. Then Caleb pulled them back out and a couple of the bulbs busted. He felt so bad and kept apologizing. It was really sweet how we could tell he felt bad that he busted it. He kept saying, "I'm sorry Daddy. I didn't mean to break them." He helped me put out my Precious Moments Nativity scene. When we put up stockings, he said he wanted some candy in there. He was looking at them and then told us which one was each of ours by looking at the names.

I got out a musical figurine that Peepaw gave me in 1989 to set on the bar with some other decorations. I get it out each year, but actually the past couple of years it has been left out year round. I couldn't put it up after Christmas 2005 after Peepaw passed away. It made me cry when I turned it and it played the song in full. I remember one year it didn't work; another year when I turned it to play it didn't work, but later it started playing. It was special to hear the whole song.

We had a fun evening. Here is a picture of the finished tree!
