Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Talking turkey...are you cooking the turkey this year? Does ham belong on a Thanksgiving day menu? When it comes to gravy do you pour it over your whole plate, skip it altogether, or land somewhere in between? Cranberries-homemade or jelled right out of the can? Do you look forward more to the main course, the savory sides, or the desserts?

I know there are at least a couple of bloggers who participate here who live outside the US and won't be celebrating Thanksgiving. If that's you feel free to adapt this question to your December (or any) holiday meal.

I bought the turkey, and my Mom is cooking it.  We have ham also.  I like to pour the gravy on my dressings and mashed potatoes.  I like both kinds of cranberries.

I really love the sides and the variety.  I think I most look forward to leftovers!  They seem to taste better the second time around.

2. Holiday movies...tell us your favorite and what it is about the film that makes you love it. Is it the film itself or a memory it stirs?

I like Home Alone because it reminds me of Caleb's laughter when he first watched it.

We watch Noel every year.  I showed it on VHS in my classroom.  Our video got messed up so now we watch it on YouTube which I'm linking here.

3. favorite way to give back and help others?

We love serving together as a family.  One thing that has become a tradition for me and my husband is taking a meal to people on Thanksgiving.  We have one family at church in charge of getting the food and then a few families prepare different parts of the meal (meat, potatoes, stuffing, rolls, pies, etc).  We all take it back cooked and ready to eat on Thursday morning and then go to deliver.  We are heating up the hams and turkey breasts this year.

4. Name a place or setting you encountered this month that made you feel grateful.

When I am at the deer lease I am grateful for the memories there as a family.  It also reminds me of the greatness of God to see the stars out in the middle of nowhere and hear the sounds of nature.

5. Knowing what you know today, if you could redo yesterday what would you do differently?

I would have been more careful when I picked up my glass of tea so I didn't spill it on myself.

I would have been specific about which bag of cheese I asked my husband to get out of the fridge at church.  I'd dropped off some cold things there because I was still going to be in town.  I asked him to get the bag of cheese.  Well there was a big bag of cheese there and that's what he got instead of my bag.  It's kinda funny cause I didn't know how he missed my black grocery bag that had cheese in it.  He just saw the cheese and grabbed it.  He swapped it out for me this morning.  :)

6. Spill your own random thought here.

We don't decorate until after Thanksgiving.  Titus did put is blow up decorations in the yard a copule weeks ago.  I am excited to get out our Christmas decorations.  I have an advent calendar from a kit to add this year that I made (with help!) and quilted.

Have a day of blessings!
