What do you eat for breakfast?

We're excited to share some great news for cereal lovers. General Mills announced recently a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:

  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.

  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.

  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

  • Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals.

Information for this post was provided by General Mills. They provided me with the $1 off coupon as well as mailed me coupons for 4 free boxes of cereal for my family through MyBlogSpark. Thank you! I look forward to redeeming my first coupon when I go grocery shopping next week.

So what do you eat for breakfast? Cereal is a good choice!

Walgreens special!

This week Walgreens has an 8 x 10 collage print for 99 cents. It is very easy to make a collage and would make a great gift also. I know many of you out in blog land take many pictures! You can choose a color for your backgrounds, with or without text, and up to 20 pictures.

Log in at the Walgreens site. Create an account if you don't have one already. Then click on the photo tab to upload your pictures. I've found it easiest for me to find all my pictures I want to use first and put them into one file all together on my computer. Then when it's time to upload I can easily see which ones I want to use. Sometimes it pops up and asks me if I want to create a collage. If it doesn't you can choose collages under the "Gifts" tab on the photo page. It will give you a few options and then put the collage together for you. You can edit it, shuffle the pictures, and change the text if you like.

The coupon code is COLLAGE99. Enter this at the end before you submit your order. I believe this coupon is valid this week only.

Free Film Developing

I saw in the Walgreens ad a coupon to get a roll of film developed for free. I don't know many people that still use 35 mm cameras anymore. I know I have one that has film in it from who knows when that I should use for this offer. I think I said this the last time I saw this offer and never made it to Walgreens that week! Just wanted to share in case someone could use it!

Free film processing

I saw another freebie this week in the Walgreens ad. You can have one roll of film developed for free on Wednesday, April 9. There is a coupon online or in their ad.

When I saw this I wondered how many people still use cameras with film. Our old camera probably has some film in it. Maybe I should find it and see if the roll is finished. Who knows what pictures I'd find on that roll!

As far as the free ink, we picked it up Friday and it seems to print fine. The colors look a little darker than normal on the first thing I just printed. I think it may be the yellow is printing darker than before.

Have a great week!

Our Wednesday

Early this morning I felt and heard a loud bump and realized Caleb had rolled out of bed. I didn't even know he had come to our bed, I must have been sleeping soundly! I was instantly wide awake. Apparently it didn't phase him thought. We asked if he was hurt, and he said his side but was mostly asleep as he said that. He didn't seem to remember it this morning.

This morning we went to the food pantry and then ran by Walgreens to drop off our ink cartridges. I know we had one refilled a while back, but I couldn't remember if it was the black or colored ink. So I took them both and the guy said they'd fill up both of them! I asked how long it would be because I had a couple more things to buy, thinking he'd say 30 minutes or so. He said they'd be ready to pick up on the 4th! I looked back on their counter, and there were rows and rows of envelopes with cartridges waiting to be refilled. I got there at a good time because we didn't have a line like I saw forming as we finished our shopping. After Walgreens we went to the bread store and then to story time at the library. Caleb makes me laugh every week as they're doing the opening and closing songs. He really gets into it with the motions!

Walmart trip and savings!

Today was our Walmart day. I had some coupons I'd printed from the Internet that I wanted to use. One in particular was rather exciting for me. (It doesn't take much to make me happy!) I found a $4.00 off coupon listed on another blog a few days ago. It is for Johnson's Melt Away Stress body lotion, massaging moisturizer, or body wash. I don't really feel that I have that much stress to melt away, but I figured I could try it for $4 off! My first thought when I saw the coupon was that the product probably cost $7 or $8. I found it in the cosmetics section after asking for some help when I couldn't find it in the section I where I thought it would be. And guess what....the body wash was only $3.97. I look forward to trying it tonight.

Another good deal we found today was packs of construction paper. It is the extra long sheets. I plan to cut them down for Caleb to use for pictures. They were marked down to $0.50 from $2.16. I got two packs of colored and one pack of manila.
