Are you getting enough fiber? + GIVEAWAY!

The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans say people should consume 25-38 grams of fiber daily, and that the average American consumes only 15 grams. What´s amazing is that incorporating fiber into your diet can be effortless and definitely delicious, with Fiber One cereals offering at least 30 percent of the Daily Value per serving. (Some Fiber One cereals offer more than 50 percent!) Fiber One Original® and flavored varieties like Honey Clusters®, Raisin Bran Clusters®, Caramel Delight®, and Shredded Wheat®, make fiber taste good and help to give people a jumpstart on their fiber intake each day.

I received a pack of cereals to try.  This picture shows the kinds of cereal included.  So far I've tried the Caramel Delight.  I'd never had it before this, and it is tasty!  My husband has been having it for breakfast too.

Would you like to try all five of these Fiber One cereals?  I am giving away a prize pack through MyBlogSpark.  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post answering the question:  Do you think you are you getting enough fiber in your diet?    A winner will be drawn on Friday, June 17.  I'll post the winner on Saturday, June 18.

You can click here for a coupon for $.75 off one box of Fiber One cereal.

(The survey information and the Fiber One cereals were given to me from General Mills through MyBlogSpark.)

UPDATED:  My husband was looking at the boxes and nutrition labels. He was surprised to find that one of them has high fructose corn syrup (the Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters) and another has aspertame (the Fiber One Original). It is very disappointing to both of us to find these ingredients in a cereal.  Here is an article about the dangers of aspertame.  Just had to add this to my review of these cereals.

Betty Crocker's "Loaded Mashed" potatoes + GIVEAWAY

After a mix-up in the mail because I had forgotten to change my address in my online account with MyBlogSpark, I recently received the above fun package.....  a mixing bowl, a magnetic hanging pot holder, silicone spoonula, and measuring cup along with a box of Betty Crocker's new "Loaded Mashed" potatoes.  Keep reading to see how you could win your very own prize pack identical to this one!

I used one of the packets to add to our supper one night this week.  I thought they had a good flavor and they reminded me of a baked potato.  I must say they were very easy to make.  This would make an easy, flavorful addition for your family when you want to add something else to the meal but you are short on time.
Here is a coupon for you to try out the Betty Crocker "Loaded Mashed" potatoes yourself.  Click here for the coupon.

Thank you to Ana at MyBlogSpark for resending my package to the right address!

Do these potatoes sound good to you?  Which of your family´s favorite meals do you think you'd make with the new Betty Crocker "Loaded Mashed" potatoes?  Let me know and I will draw one winner from the comments to receive the same prize pack I received (pictured above).  Contest ends Friday, April 22 and I will draw a winner on Saturday.

What do you eat for breakfast?

We're excited to share some great news for cereal lovers. General Mills announced recently a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:

  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.

  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.

  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

  • Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals.

Information for this post was provided by General Mills. They provided me with the $1 off coupon as well as mailed me coupons for 4 free boxes of cereal for my family through MyBlogSpark. Thank you! I look forward to redeeming my first coupon when I go grocery shopping next week.

So what do you eat for breakfast? Cereal is a good choice!
