Children's Book: Penguin & Moose Brave the Night

About the book:

In this charming picture book, best friends Penguin and Moose learn how to be strong despite their worries as they face their fear of the dark.

Penguin's excited to go to his first sleepover at his friend Moose's house! But Moose doesn't use a nightlight, and Penguin is afraid of the dark. To protect himself from the things that go bump in the night, Penguin prepares with an array of tactics and tools, including a slingshot, a football helmet, and bug spray. But when nothing works to chase Penguin's fears away, Moose shares his own trick: remembering that God is always with him. Written by best-selling author Hannah C. Hall, this second book in the charming Penguin & Moose series is the perfect bedtime story to reassure scaredy-penguins everywhere.

My thoughts:
Moose and Penguin are having a sleepover.  Penguin has come up with several tactics to protect himself in the night for whatever may happen.  Moose on the other hand isn't afraid at all.  Penguin eventually realizes that Moose is asleep without all those extra forms of "protection" so maybe he is safe and should go to sleep too.

The protection tactics brought by Penguin are creative.  My favorite part was that Moose had shared his pillow with Penguin.  Stitched on the pillowcase was the verse "So do not fear, for I am with you."-- Isaiah 41:10

If you have a child not scared of the dark, I wouldn't recommend reading a book like this one to give them something to worry about (if they are prone to worry!). However, if they are having trouble with bedtime then this book would be helpful.

The illustrations are cute.  I like the idea of a moose and penguin being friends.

Children's Book: God's Always Loving You

About the book:
Remind little ones that God will always be there to love, support, and comfort them—no matter the situation—with this uplifting, reassuring board book.

This powerful little book is filled to the brim with hope and comfort. Simple, child-friendly verse outlines relatable moments of crisis, uncertainty, and fear common to a child's life, and asks who helps us in each of those scenarios. "God, that's who" is the reliable answer, forming a pattern kids will quickly pick up on. Each answer reinforces the book's deeply comforting message: God is always there for us. He loves us, He knows us, and He cares about our needs.

As they listen to the book and look at the reassuring illustrations, little ones will learn that they can lean on God when they are upset or frightened, or anytime at all.

My thoughts:
I love board books....even though my boys are not the age for these books, I still like looking at them at the store or library.  This new book, God's Always Loving You, is a very tender, sweet book.  Even though it is a board book format, this is a message that all of us need to hear, no matter our age! Whatever we are facing....storms, sad news, celebrating with friends, wanting to quit....God is with us

The illustrations fit perfectly with the text in my opinion.  The children have meaningful expressions that fit whatever they are trying to accomplish.

My thoughts:
I have not completed this book yet; however, it has been a very enjoyable read so far. It is easy to follow and very interesting to learn how the foods we eat can cause inflammation.  Inflammation is a contributor to many common diseases we are facing today.  Just by changing your diet and removing the inflammatory foods you can reduce or reverse the effects of some diseases.

I was not sure if I would be able to read this book because I typically do not read this type of book. So far it has kept my attention with the stories and examples of success stories that Dr. Colbert has witnessed in his practice and his own life.

I would recommend this book to you and hope you will find it as beneficial as I have.

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book for my honest review.
