Book #37: Honor's Price

I finished Honor's Price by Kristen Heitzmann this weekend. It is book #2 in the Rocky Mountain Legacy series. I finished book #1 back in October.

I enjoyed this book as the story of Abbie and Monte continued. Things seem to be going well for the couple in their relationship; their plans for marriage come to a halt after a barn fire during Abbie's birthday celebration injures Monte. He realizes someone is attacking him and his ranch and wants to find out who that is and heal from his injuries before marrying Abbie.

I look forward to the next book in the series and will look for it at the library.

Book #32: Honor's Pledge

I finished Honor's Pledge by Kristen Heitzmann over the weekend. It is the first in a series called Rocky Mountain Legacy.


The main character is a girl named Abbie Martin. She is a tomboy type girl who enjoys being outside and knows the area around her home in Colorado. The book opens with her lifelong friend Blake McConnel pulling a gun on newcomer Montgomery Farrel who has given some attention to Abbie. The book goes on to tell the story of Abbie as she falls for Monte. He returns home and due to a pledge he made in his youth, comes back a married man.

I enjoyed the surprises in the plot. Usually I can guess what is coming but this book had a couple of surprises for me. I'm glad it is a series so I can read more about these characters.

Book #24 A Rush of Wings

I finished the book A Rush of Wings by Kristen Heitzmann today. I found this book at our library after I enjoyed another book by the same author, Twilight.

A Rush of Wings is the story of scared, fragile Noelle St. Claire. Engaged to Michael Fallon, her father's protege, she is running away from her father and her life of living for her father and pleasing him. She doesn't know where she's running but feels like she is home at a ranch in the mountains of Colorado. It is there she meets the ranch owner Rick Spencer and his brother Morgan. Noelle doesn't know why she frequently has panic attacks and nightmares with a recurring image of a hawk. Morgan tries to break through her shell, but Noelle is too scared to let him know all her secrets. Rick tries to share God's love with her, but Noelle refuses to listen or try to understand. Through the book Noelle comes to understand the panic attacks and the reason for her fears from her broken childhood.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I did Twilight and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Books #20 and #21

I finished two books last week during all of our driving!

The first one is called Searching for Spice by Megan DiMaria. This is the first book published by the author. I did enjoy it, but it took me a while to figure out why I wasn't totally into it though....it's written in first person and that was just hard for me to get into it. I guess I'm just not used to reading first person. The storyline was good though. The main character, Linda, was looking for ways to spice up her marriage. She tried all sorts of things to capture her husband's attention and rekindle the spark of their early dating days. The family faces several issues that divert Linda's attention away from her plan to spice up her marriage. From these trials she learns a valuable lesson about her marriage.

The second book is one my friend gave me a long time ago to read and I finally read it. It is called Twilight by Kristen Heitzmann. This was such a great book that I really enjoyed reading. It was one of those I couldn't put down because I had to know what happened. The main character, Cal, has experienced a tragedy as a fire fighter. Through the book he works through his issues while also dealing with the feelings that resurface when his first love, Laurie, moves back to town. They both want to be friends, but Laurie has some secrets she doesn't share immediately with Cal. I was excited to find more books by this author at our local library and look forward to reading more from her.
