Flashback Friday
This week for Flashback Friday we are talking about our families and specifically our siblings.
I am an only child. I enjoyed being an only child and never remember wishing I had siblings. The thing that did bug me is the stereotype that all onlies are spoiled. My Mom always said that if something is spoiled you throw it out and that I was just loved.
It seems people often think having only one child is in some way a bad thing. I don't see it that way at all. I have found with us it seems many people just expect you to have another child once you have one that is 2 or 3 years old. We are frequently asked if we are having more children...(don't get me on that soapbox cause I really don't think it is anyone else's business if we are or aren't!!)
Have a day of blessings!

I love you my friend.
I agree with you, it is no one elses business. My daughter is an only child and she loved it that way. I think there is a big difference between being spoiled and abnoxiously spoiled. Thanks for sharing! And sometimes we have to get on our soapbox! lol
until next time... nel
I think happy families come in all sizes : ) Your mother is wise.
I have the most wonderful son-in-law! He's caring, thoughtful, unselfish, really listens when you talk to him, a fine Christian man....I could go on & on. I might also mention that he was an 'only child' adopted by parents who were older than most new parents. Kinda shoots down the stereotype of people raised as an only child being spoiled rotten, so I totally agree with you, Bethany!
Have a super weekend!
Susan
Loved your mom's comment about the spoiling!
Glad you are happy. Big or small families...really what does it matter...as long as there is love.
I agree, sometimes being on your soapbox IS alright! I do it sometimes myself!!
I am thankful that you were always content being our ONLY!
We also had lots of questions when you were 2 or 3!
I really like your honesty :) - I have a sister, but we only have one son - it just worked out that way.
Do I think our son is spoiled? Hm, I don't think so.
Love & peace,
