Flashback Friday

This week for Flashback Friday we are talking about our first jobs.

My flashback:
I did not have to get a job when I was in high school. I was thankful for this at the time because I did not know how I'd manage my school work on top of a job every evening.

The first paying job I remember was being a tutor. I really don't know how old I was or how much I got paid, maybe junior high. My Mom would drop me off in the summer for a couple hours at the house of the secretary from my Dad's work. I'd tutor her daughter in math. She was several years younger than me. I continued to tutor various people on through high school. One girl who was a year younger than me, and I tutored her in geometry and algebra. She'd call me on the nights she needed help and I'd go to their house. In my senior year I tutored after school in the library at our high school, and they paid me and another guy to do this a couple times a week.

When I went to college, I did not work at first. Then I got a job in the education department. I loved it! I worked for the director of student teaching and one of the other professors. I would help out the department secretary too by going over to the post office and getting the mail for her. I worked until I started my student teaching. Then in the summer after we got married I worked there part time also, which was a blessing to have that money coming in before I started teaching. Also, another lady in the department hired me to baby sit her daughter after school. I did this for a couple of years.

Have a day of blessings!

I tutored an acquaintance in Geometry a few times when I was in high school, but I don't remember getting paid for it.

Fun memories!

Oh this is a good one! What a great job for you! So blessed to be good in math! I am still awful and am watching my daughter struggle through as well. She had her final year this year and we both celebrated LOL
Now, if we can just get her through college algrebra ~ sigh ~ we will be D.ON.E!

I was never blessed in math. Finally in college I came across an excellent teacher who helped me sort it all out. I sure could have used your help in school!

Tutoring..that's cool. I can't seem to teach though. I can know how to do something, but I've never been very good at telling or teaching someone else how to do it....lol Guess that's why everyone is not a teacher. :)
