2009 Book #11: The Real Enemy

I have been excited to share this new book The Real Enemy by Kathy Herman. Recently I had a "friend request" for Kathy Herman on my Facebook account. I didn't recognize the name so I emailed to ask how I knew her. Well it turns out I didn't know her. She told me about herself and I was excited to find out she is an author. She offered to send me her new book and I was thrilled! I couldn't wait to read it. I made myself finish the last one first though before getting into this one. This is one of those I-love-it-and-can't-put-it-down-because-I-need-to-find-out-what-happens books.

Brill Jessup is the new police chief in Sophie Trace. She thinks she'll have less stress in this small town compared to her previous job in Memphis. Citizens begin disappearing though without any apparent connection. Some of the citizens blame the legend of the "red shadows" for the disappearances, which is the media focus rather than the facts. If thinks at work aren't stressful enough, Brill is harboring deep resentment and bitterness towards her husband, which is tearing her family apart.

If you enjoy reading suspense and a good mystery, I recommend this book to you. The reader can relate to all of the characters, and the plot will have you flipping pages to find out what happens. I look forward to what happens next for Brill and her family in book #2. I'm happy to have another author on my list I love reading!

The theme verse for the book:

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21
