This week the theme for Thankful Thursday is Basics. Thank you to Iris at Grace Alone for all she does for TT!
The first thing I thought of was a song that is from the group 4Him, it's an older song called "Basics of Life." You can hear the song on YouTube. The lyrics of this song hold such truth. We've strayed so far from the basics. I really like this line of the song:
"Someday we all will awake and look back just to find what we've lost"
It is sad to me to think about this and the reality of this statement. So many of the basic foundations are missing in homes across our country. As Christians we need to take a stand for our beliefs without fear if we're doing something popular or "politically correct." Leaders fail us and change. Money funds out. Possessions get old or broken. Fads change. Our bodies age.
This week I'm thankful for those basics in my life....my faith, my hope in Jesus, love, and purity. These are things that will last.
There are other basics I'm thankful for also. My needs are met and we have so much more than just our "needs." We have so many extras and I'm thankful for that.
