Book: Christy

I completed the book Christy by Catherine Marshall this week. It is 496 pages and took me a while to finish. When I first started reading, it took me a while to really get into it. I have always enjoyed stories of this type though. This one is set in Cutter Gap, Tennessee, in the early 1900s. Being a teacher I could relate to the main character Christy Huddleston. I could absolutely not fathom a one room schoolhouse with 67 students! This was one of those books that I felt like I knew the characters. Now I want to watch the movie and see how it compares.

I have read that book a few times. I love how it reminds me, as a teacher, not to underestimate or judge my students and their situations before I know much about it. The part about darkness and light was very powerful. I haven't seen the movie.
