You're Gonna Miss This.....Moment #6

Today I'm linking with Pam for You're Gonna Miss This...moment.

On Tuesday this week Caleb and I were walking into HEB to do our grocery shopping. As we got out of the car and walked to get a buggy, I felt his hand clasped securely in mine. I felt myself getting tears in my eyes as I thought to myself, "how many more times will we have this?" We go grocery shopping every two weeks and I know time is coming close when my boy will be in school. I really love going grocery shopping with Caleb. We have fun together and he always makes me grin when he can spot a fire fighter down any aisle it seems! We seem to always end up at HEB when the fire fighters are shopping and Caleb always tells them hello.

I could look at a calendar and count how many more Tuesday shopping trips we have, but instead I decided to just enjoy that moment, that feeling that little hand in mine and having my little helper along for the grocery shopping.

You're Gonna Miss This....Moment #5

Today I'm linking with Pam for You're Gonna Miss This...moment.

While my husband was on his business trip to Phoenix this week, Caleb and I went back to Gramma's house. Over the past four years we've done this often when Daddy's been away traveling for multiple days. Caleb likes to visit at the school where my Mom works as a secretary or go eat breakfast with her in the cafeteria. It's always a little mini-vacation for me because Mom cooks or we go out and I don't have regular chores to do while I'm here (I finished two books though since no chores!).

I had the realization this will be the last time we're able to do this. School is nearly out and Caleb will be in school next year. Whenever Daddy has trips next year we'll be at home so Caleb can go to school.

It's been fun to come to Mom's. I think about how much Caleb has changed through the years. When he was little, just crawling around, he'd sit at her bedroom door and cry when she'd go take her shower at night. He couldn't wait for her to come back. When she'd leave for work in the mornings he'd cry and sit by the window to see if she was pulling into the driveway. Through the years this has changed. He still misses her and says he wants her, but he doesn't sit and cry during her showers anymore or when she leaves for work.

We're gonna miss this...

You're Gonna Miss This......Moment #4

Friday was full of fun moments with me and my boy. I like to get most of the chores and housework done earlier in the week so I have less to do on Fridays. Friday morning started out cloudy and rainy so it was the perfect day to be lazy in our pajamas. Caleb was watching a video and I warned him that we might lose electricity but if that happens we'll start the video again later. He looked at me one time and said, "Um, is it still daytime?" It got really really dark right before it poured rain. His comment made me laugh how he said it so innocently! He got his flashlight and got on the couch with me to read books. Later he wanted me to be a dog so I made doggy noises and he had to take me to the vet. He covered me with a blanket and gave me a pillow and curled up beside me. I said, "Do you like curling up by a doggy?" At that moment I was thinking it is just a couple more weeks till we sign him up for kindergarten. I emailed my Mom to tell her what we'd been doing and she said it made her think "You're gonna miss this." Oh yes, that is what I was thinking.

You're Gonna Miss This.....Moment #3

I have a funny moment to share today. Caleb will randomly come to me and hand me something from his little fingers to my hand. He's been doing this for years now. I don't know what first caused it even. Every time he pulls a piece of fingernail off (like if it is snags on something he'll pull off the little piece the rest of the way), he brings it to me. I told you it was funny! I wonder how long he will continue to give me these little pieces of nail. He doesn't do it that often, but it makes me smile when he does just because it is something so unique in my opinion! I was sleeping late this morning, and he came and brought me a little tiny nail. As random as this is, I'm sure I'll miss it when he quits!

You're Gonna Miss This.....Moment #2

I had another one of these moments this week I wanted to share and remember. One day this week I heard the door close and went to check on my boy. He was out in the front yard picking flowers for me. He'd gotten the scissors and was cutting them out of the ground. He brought them to me and I put them in water, thinking all the time what a special thing to have a boy bring me flowers from the yard!

You're Gonna Miss This.....Moment #1

I saw this cute idea on another blog and wanted to join in this week.

Lately I have thought the phrase "I'm gonna miss this" more times than I can remember. I often catch myself thinking about how different things will be for me next year (or really in August, my school teacher brain does year by the school calendar) when my boy goes off to kindergarten. I'm gonna miss having my boy play in the yard and talk to me (in his pajamas often!) as I hang clothes on the line. This week I snapped a few pictures of him digging up some dirt. He said he was working on a rock garden. I'm thankful for moments like this when I can hear his plans and ideas.
