Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's your earliest memory?
For this question I never know if it is really my memory or just what I've been told or pictures I've seen.  One is that I wanted to ride the bus home from school on the first day of kindergarten which apparently surprised my Mom.

2. What's something about you today that the old you would find surprising?

I feel I worry less about some things in parenting with Titus this age (3rd grade) than I did when Caleb was this age.  I see younger parents and think did I ever do that/act that way?

3. Do you like to fish? Are you a fish eater? Favorite fish (to eat)? Favorite way to prepare fish?

I haven't been fishing in a while.  As a child we often went and I'd sit with my book to read and have a pole in the water.  I did enjoy it when I was catching little perch as soon as the worm hit the water.  The last time I was fishing was on a guided trip in Alaska last summer where I got sea sick so I never touched a pole.

I don't really like to eat fish.  Hot fresh fried catfish I will eat sometimes.  But I have to be in the right mood.

4. What's your biggest first world problem?

Well yesterday my neighbor wrote and asked if I had water.  I wasn't home at the time.  When I got home I found our water was off too.  It came on in the afternoon with low pressure.  But then at supper it was totally off.  They got the problem fixed in the night.  A lot of our town was out, we even got a message from school they would update us in the morning on the school plan if the water wasn't fixed.  Thankfully it was.  Now we are under a boil order.

5. What one word would you use to describe your year thus far?

fast

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I realized yesterday how it has been a while since I jumped in the Hodgepodge.  Summer was nice. It went so quickly. It is very hot here.  We've had so many days over 100. Now school is back in session.  I have a 3rd grader.  And my big boy graduated from fire academy earlier this month.  He has a test today and then part of the application process for the fire department coming up.

Have a day of blessings!

I thought I was a pretty relaxed parent overall, but I also know I changed a lot from Kid #1 to Kid #4 - much of that I'm realizing now that they're all grown and I'm watching a couple of them parent their own little ones! Hope you have a great week - and that the water problems are all looked after soon!

That certainly would be surprising on your first day. I totally forgot about my memory of kindergarten. I should have shared it.It is never good when the water goes out. Glad it is working now. Fast it the perfect word. I can't believe how fast things are going. Love your random and glad you joined in today. Enjoyed reading your answers.

Someone else mentioned whether it was an actual memory or something told or photos seen. So true. I enjoyed your answers. Summer did go by too fast.
