Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. We're in to a season students call 'spring break'. Did you/your family travel over spring breaks when you were growing up?  Tell us something about a 'spring break' you remember (from childhood or adulthood, either one).

I don't recall doing any special trips on spring break as a child.
Usually my husband's birthday falls during spring break.  For a few years we would take our camper out to the state park or river for a few days.  I remember being in the camper in 2020 and getting the updates that we weren't going back to school for part of the week.  Then it progressed to a longer time and eventually being cancelled for in person for the year.

2. Last thing you broke? Was it a big deal?

I broke my finger nail when I was getting out a muffin pan.  It didn't hurt, it wasn't very long, no big deal.

3. March 7th is National Cereal Day...are you a fan? What's your favorite? If not cereal what's your favorite breakfast? Your typical breakfast?

I do not eat cereal much.  However, recently Lucky Charms sounded good and I bought one of those small $1 bags at Dollar General.  I ate a lot of Shredded Wheat during one period of life.

I don't eat breakfast.  I do intermittent fasting and breakfast is the meal I don't eat.  I wasn't sure I could do this and not feel bad, but it is a lifestyle and I love it.  I feel good and am glad I have kept up with this for several years now.

4. Break ground, break of dawn, break down, break the bank, break one's stride, break the ice, break a law, break a habit, break bread...choose one of the idioms listed and tell us how it applies to your life currently.

We hope the bill for the van at the shop won't "break the bank."  It was time for spark plugs and some other 120,000 mile updates plus something with the brakes.

5. Where do you go to connect with friends and family? What do you like to do most when you're home alone?

With my husband's side of the family we like to go to the deer lease or the river.  It had been a tradition for the beginning of summer but we've not been able to go lately.

I have found I need time home alone.  I like to turn on my audio book when I'm doing chores when I'm home alone.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My husband took my van to the shop today (see question 4) for spark plugs and brakes.  We played musical vehicles.  I am glad it worked out for me to have a vehicle to drive and get my errands done.  My husband's car is a standard which I cannot drive.  He tried to teach  me once with his little red truck years ago, and I just didn't get it and have no desire to learn at this point.  Driving the truck is quite different from my van.  Titus told me he didn't know if it was the bumps or just my driving on the way to school this morning.  :)

Also I think we've had all the seasons this week here.  Today it feels like winter again!  Brrr!

Have a day of blessings!

It's kind of fun when birthdays fall during a holiday time, like your husband's during spring break. Lucky Charms is one of my favorite cereals too - and I always get it for St Patricks Day ;-) Hope you have a great week!

Camping is fun. We have done that in a long time and don't think we will be anytime soon. Yes, that was a terrible time for our country. I hate that we had to go through that. Especially for the kids who should have been in school. I didn't even think about a finger nail and I've done that a few times recently. I've always like shredded wheat. Yes, cars can certainly cost a lot for repairs. Glad that you can get some time alone. That's funny about Titus' comment to you. I used to enjoy driving stick shift but haven't done that in years. I feel it would come right back to me.
