Wednesday Hodgepodge

I'm glad to join in the Hodgepodge today.  She has some good questions for us!

1.Why do you blog? Have your reasons changed over time?
The main reasons I blog now are to continue to do Thankful Thursday and to share book reviews.  When I started I remember reading a friend's blog.  I thought no one would read about my daily life!  But I started one anyway and have "met" some sweet ladies.  I used to write for a devotional site called Laced With Grace and would share the links to those posts here too.  I had the blogs I followed in "feedly" (it was some other app before that), but I don't even go read blogs anymore regularly!
Edit:  I went back to look at my first post and that was July 6, 2007!  Wow!

2. What's a typical Friday night look like at your house?

It's usually the night we go out to eat.  Sometimes if it's been a busy week my husband will just pick up something on his way home.

3. Do you like donuts? Your favorite kind? How often do you treat yourself to a donut? Have you ever made homemade donuts?

I do enjoy donuts!  We have a wonderful little donut shop nearby and the lady there is so friendly.  I like chocolate covered donuts and also like blueberry cake donuts now.  Oh and don't forget donut holes!  I like those too.  I don't have a donut very often.  Sometimes we get them and I'll eat it later (since I don't eat breakfast). I don't think I've ever made homemade donuts.  My mom used to make donuts out of biscuits that were fried and then add frosting.  They are good.

4. How do you feel about shopping? Are you an online shopper? Catalog shopper? Brick and mortar shopper? Do you order groceries online or prefer to select items with your own two hands?
I have to be in the mood to shop, especially for myself.  Last year I searched a long while for the outfit to wear to my son's graduation since I got to give him his diploma.  I am pretty picky on color and style so it takes me a while to find things I like.

I am buying more things online, but if I'm picking things out, particularly gifts, I like to go into the store.  I like thrift shopping and going to consignment stores, Goodwill, etc.

I do order groceries online and go to the store to pick up.  It is so nice to have them bring my items out to me and has been a time saver.  I will still go to our local grocery store from time to time to pick up a few things.  And I do like to go to Aldi to shop and browse.

5. Next week's Hodgepodge finds us somehow in the month of April, which just so happens to be National Poetry Month. Sum up (or tell us something about) your month of March in the form of a limerick. You can do it!!

A lady came out to the van.
She slipped as she carried a pan.
Her pants had a hole.
Her man had to console.
The fall wasn't part of her plan.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

As you will notice in #5 I slipped on a slick spot of mud on the cement outside our garage on Friday.  I was taking banana pudding to a funeral lunch.  I didn't drop the pudding!  It hurt a lot and hurt more after I looked at it!  I'd put a picture but it's kind of gross to see.  I got it cleaned up and carried on with my day.  It's been hurting though since then.  It is right where I bend it all the time for walking.  It was getting gross and had fever in it on Sunday night so I got some ointment for it and rested it most of the day on Monday.  It was a lot better on Tuesday until I was on it too long. It's such a small thing compared to the major things happening for others right now.  It makes me realize how nice it is to walk and move without pain and I'll appreciate that more once this heals.

Have a day of blessings!

Oh no, so sorry to read about your fall and landing. I do hope it heals up soon and you can walk more comfortably. Happy Hodgepodge to you!

Uh oh, that doesn't sound like a good fall at all; luckily you didn't drop the pudding!

Ouch!! I imagine you are in pain after a fall like that. It is pretty amazing that you didn't spill the banana pudding! Hope it hurts less and less each day. By the way, great limerick to go along with the story!!

An unexpected fall is so upsetting. I had a big one back in September (broke my elbow) and I was just so annoyed with myself. You want to reverse time 5 quick minutes and get a do-over. I hope you continue to heal well. Take care.

I'm sorry about your fall! It sounds painful so I hope it heals up quickly! You did a great job writing a limerick describing it though! Visiting from the hodgepodge today!

I enjoyed reading your answers. Nice that you go out to eat on most Friday nights. So sorry about your fall. Hope your weekend goes well.

I loved your answers. I've always thought, even if no one ever reads my blog, I do it for me as a creative outlet. I started in 2007 as well.
I love thrift shopping too. Ever Wednesday my granddaughter and I hit a couple while her big brother is at preschool.I enjoyed your limerick, but ouch, sorry about falling. My daughter had a fall a month ago and banged up her knees, they're better, but still sore when she does certain things.
