Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Let's start things off right...Wednesday is National Dessert Day. What are we having? How often do you  make/serve dessert? Store bought or from scratch?
Tomorrow I'm making banana pudding for one of the dessert choices for the varsity team meal.    See #2 below!

I need to decide on a dessert for supper now that I'm reading about dessert!
I will sometimes buy something at the store that looks good, like those frosted cookies at Walmart, just because I like them.  We make cakes and pies somewhat regularly. The boys like angel food cake, and I have a chocolate chip cake recipe made with a cake mix and box of instant pudding that is my husband's favorites. This is very similar to the recipe I use. It is super easy, and I like to make it (especially if it comes out of the Bundt pan in one piece and doesn't stick!)
When I was pregnant with Titus I ate a TON of Rice Krispy treats.  I ask Caleb to make me chocolate chip peanut butter cookies sometimes, they are one of my favorites.
There is a lady in town that makes homemade treats.  I love to order from her.  She makes coconut or chocolate meringue pies for $10.  They are so delicious!  It's been a while since I've had one.

2. Slow as molasses, icing on the cake, that's the way the cookie crumbles, have your cake and eat it too, half-baked idea, that takes the cake...which phrase might be applied to something in your life in recent days? Explain.

That's the way the cookie crumbles....at least in 2020!  We found out yesterday afternoon that our football game this week is cancelled.  The other team has Covid so they cancelled all their games.  It was our homecoming.  I kinda expected a cancellation eventually but it is disappointing.  I'm thankful we've gotten to play as many games as we have and pray we get to play some more.  Cases are going up around here.
So no game, no decorating, no team meal this week. It is what it is!

3. Something that's 'easy as pie' for you to do?
One thing that comes to mind is the list I make for the encouragement committee at our church.  Each month on the 15th I send out a list to those on the committee of names they are to send to for that month.  We have many names that stay on our list year round and then a few are always added as various needs come up.  When I started doing this committee, Caleb helped me come up with the method to keep it all organized and keep track of who was sending to who.  I was working on it a couple days ago to be ready to send out this week and thinking how it's gotten so easy for me to do and I can do it much faster now than when I started.

4. Are you someone who likes to 'sugarcoat' news you think might not be well received, or are you more of a tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they may? Do you like to receive your news the same way you give it?

I would say it depends who I am talking to.  I usually think about what to say in my head (sometimes for days) and imagine how it will be received.  Sometimes I just feel like I need to speak up and say something even if it isn't exactly popular.  This happened to me at a fundraiser we had recently.

I'd rather someone just tell me the truth even if it is not what I want to hear.  Don't beat around the bush, just say it and get it over with!

5. Something you did recently that made you feel like a 'smart cookie'?
Learning to quilt and trying new things with it!  It is getting easier for me and I enjoy it so much!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Be sure to check out the giveaway in the previous post.  You can enter to win 6 months of Butterfly Box....This was the beautiful box I got in September.

It is such a fun thing to get in the mail, and I like how each box has a theme.
What a great giveaway to win a box for 6 months! Be sure to tell me too if you win! Here is the link to enter the giveaway!

Have a day of blessings!

Wow. Ten dollars is a bargain for that beautiful looking pie! Sorry about the cancellation of the homecoming game. I can imagine the disappointment. Your encouragement committee is such a great idea. When I was in highschool/college we had a Sunshine Committee at church and we sent out cards. Hope the rest of your week goes well.

I can't believe someone makes homemade pies and sells them for $10 - that is an amazing price!! The butterfly box is cool!!

We don't do dessert unless it's a party and even then we are usually to full to eat it. Mark would love a coconut pie. However your boys are young and dessert is important. Sorry about the game but it's not a surprise. I'm glad you're enjoying your quilting. I've never tried.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Sorry your game was cancelled. We can't even have team sports yet. My grandson is hoping he can basketball soon. They still have virtual classes. I think things will open up soon but then close down again because of Covid and the flu season. Makes me sad because we will have to stay away from them again. The Butterfly box looks cool, I will have to check it out.

That pie looks so good! I'm sorry for the cancelled game. It's all so strange, isn't it? I am glad for the activities that are happening as I think we all need things to look forward to. And I guess this generation will have a lot of experience in handling disappointment. Enjoy your weekend!
