I remember in elementary school knowing the school nurse and going to her office for eye and hearing tests each year as well as other random times. Through the years as I've been on various campuses I've seen a wide spectrum of school nurses...from those that are very involved to those that I don't even recognize or know their name.
School nurses have a lot of responsibility in caring for the needs of the children...dispensing medication, taking temperatures, dealing with lice, giving out band aids, keeping student immunization records up to date. I've also seen that nurses are one area that are often cut from budgets and then schools have to share nurses between campuses.
Pray for the nurses, to know the health needs of their students, to be appreciated and that they will be a comfort for the children that come to their office.
