My thoughts:
This is a very sweet book about a momma bunny and her baby bunny.  She tells the bunny reasons she loves him and what makes him special.

The text of this book is rhyming. It is enjoyable to read, and my little guy enjoyed listening to this book multiple times.

I Love You, Funny Bunny is illustrated by Sean Julian. They are all really cute, but my favorite is the page with the little bunny using a carrot as a microphone. 
This book would make a nice addition to a child's Easter basket, a baby shower gift, or just to add to your personal library.

Time for Bed, Sleepyhead

Doesn't the cover of this book look inviting?  I love the soft background colors and cuddly animals.  Today I would like to share with you Time for Bed, Sleepyhead The Falling Asleep Book written by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. and illustrated by Gail Yerrill.

My thoughts:
I found the illustrations to be just beautiful.  They are definitely a "plus" for me regarding this book.   I did not read this to my child to see if it would help him fall asleep, and I laughed when I read the warning in the introduction from the author to not read this to a child in the car because it could have "unintended, negative effects on the driver."

The story was different from other books because it is a made up story being told by the mother bear to her little bear about a day he has at the beach with friends. They beach creates a comforting, fun, safe setting for the bear and friends to be. They all end up very tired after their long day.  Many "sleep related words" are used like tired, yawn, falling asleep, drifting off, snoring, etc. This all leads to the bear being ready to fall asleep.

For me this is not the best children's book I ever read. It is a nice book, but I probably would not buy it myself. I guess it did not flow well for me because of the randomness of some parts.

Submarines, Secrets and A Daring Rescue

About the book:

Written by Robert Skead with the help of his father, the main character is based on their ancestor who fought in the American Revolution as part of the Connecticut militia. Though historical fiction, the events that occurred with George Washington in New Jersey regarding the war effort are true.

My thoughts:
My son (age 10) enjoys historical fiction books, and I thought this book would be great for him.  He read it very quickly when I received it in the mail, and then I read it myself.  I thought this was a good book to share a piece of history with children.  It was interesting and held the reader's attention. This is a book about war so there was battles and such included.  It also included the beating of a prisoner.

This is the second in a series so there was parts of the first story included in this book.  At the back of the book is a glossary, a set of questions, a list of historical characters, and historical letters related to the book.

My son said it was an okay book for historical fiction, and he would have liked more facts about the Turtle.

My thoughts:
This is a cute little sticker and activity book for young girls. It is part of "The Princess Parables" series and features Princess Charity. It includes a variety of activities through the 16 pages including coloring, a dot-to-dot, color by number, and word find.  This is the type of book that would be good for a little girl to have while riding in the car or waiting someplace.  It is recommended for ages 4-8. I plan to share it with my niece who is 5.

The characters are cute and girly.  The stickers feature the princesses and other girly things from the book.

One thing I noticed is the feel of the pages...they are slick (not like you would think of regular coloring books), and the child will need a marker or pen. I do not think crayons will work too well on this.  I thought it might have a story about Princess Charity, but it is just activities.

My thoughts:
I enjoyed reading the book Bunny's First Spring. The cover says it is appropriate for ages 4-8 which I find to be accurate.  This is a beautiful book to share with your child about the beauty of the seasons as they change.  When the bunny is born everything is alive and fresh. But as the seasons change bunny is worried about what is happening.  Spring comes again though!

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed the illustrations.  They are so well-done and peaceful in my opinion.  The reader gets to see the transformation of the seasons through the illustrations.

This is a nice book to add to your personal library to read with your children.

Along Came You by Karona Drummond and illustrated by Estelle Corke is a sweet children's book I would like to share with you today.

My thoughts:
In this sweet book a Mom tells her daughter how her life has changed because of her.  The child in the picture looks like a preschooler.  To me this would be a book that a Mom could read to her child as a toddler that could become a favorite as the child grows. I like the repetitive phrase of "before you" and "after you" used on each page.  It is just the right length as well to keep the child's attention and the right size of board book for young hands to hold on their own.

Children change all aspects of our lives, and this book celebrates those wonderful changes!  A child may not realize the way he or she has caused so many things to change, but this book shares those changes in a positive, loving manner.

This book is 365 days of devotions for your child.  It is geared to ages 9-12.  This is a great way for your child to get into the habit of having a daily devotional time.

I thought the topics were relevant to the life of a child in today's world.  They are short and easy to read and each one includes a verse reference.  I was very impressed with this book and am glad to have it to use in our home.

My son has been reading these, and he said he likes it.  He noticed the large print that was easy to read. Also he said it has good stories.

Andi Unexpected

I have a special book review for you today.  My son received this book Andi Unexpected by Amanda Fowler to read and review.  He read it super fast and really enjoyed it.  Here is his review which he dictated to me: 
Andi's parents died in a plane crash, and she went to live at her aunt's house.  Her aunt Amelie was excited for Andi and her older sister Bethany to come because she was lonely.  Andi wants to move up to the attic because her sister is annoying.  Andi and her new friend Colin find a trunk in a trap door.  They find out it belonged to a relative named Andora which is Andi's full name.  The trunk is a mystery for them to find out about the other Andora. 

I thought it was cool that Andi and Colin were trying to solve the mystery of the trunk.  It's not a scary book, just a normal book.  It is a chapter book without pictures.  I liked this book and want to read more of this series.  I think it is a good book.  Personally, I think people who like mysteries or good books will like to read this.  It is for boys or girls.
