Book review: Dream Big, My Precious One

About the book:
Celebrate the hopes and dreams you have for your little one with this rhyming picture book that inspires children to dream big, work hard, and trust in God.

In Dream Big, My Precious One, a narrator wonders what a young child will enjoy as he or she grows up—sports, art, music? The narrator imagines all of the incredible things the child could become, from "a doctor or zoologist, a nurse or archaeologist" all the way to "a preacher sharing God's good news, a captain on a sailing cruise, a vet to cure sick kangaroos!" Upbeat and playful, this book will inspire children to passionately pursue their dreams, knowing that God will be with them every step of the way.

My thoughts:
This is a newly released children's book that will be enjoyed by preschool/early elementary aged children.  There is so much to like about this book.  The rhyming text is fun to read.  The illustrations are colorful and well done, showing both boys and girls in many settings pursuing various "dreams"...."kick a soccer ball so far," "a captain on a sailing cruise," and "fight hunger, serve the poor."  The font text is easy to read too with "Dream big my precious one" being a little large on each page.  I also appreciate that it includes the reminder that God will help them as they pursue their dreams, whatever those may be.

I have had the thought this would make a nice book to give a child as he graduates kindergarten.  His teachers through the years could even sign it for her/him and be a collection of memories when she/he graduates high school.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review from Hachette Book Group.

Have a day of blessings!

  1. Thank you for your review. I put one in my Amazon cart. Might be nice for James' 3rd birthday in October since it says 3-6.
