Marriage Monday: Food that Flopped

I'm late today but wanted to add in for Marriage Monday. When I saw one of the possible titles for this month ---Food that Flopped (And How We Laughed About it Later), a funny story came to mind!

When we were dating, I found out my husband loved lemon pie. One day I was home from college and knew he was coming over to visit, so I decided to make him a pie. I had made many pies before but never a lemon pie. My Mom even helped me some as I was preparing it. When he got there and had a bite, it was not at all what he expected. I don't know what I did wrong! Remembering it now, he said it was very dense and he doesn't remember what made it that way.

We joke about it now if we eat something that isn't the best. Or if I make something new and I'm scared how it will turn out, I'll mention my first lemon pie.

I don't know if I've made him another lemon pie since then! I should try!

Have a day of blessings!

Lemon Pie! That is a great story! I like to remember the silly times when we were newlyweds. I am glad I came back by. I visited Pam but I left my comment on her Your Gonna Miss This blog because the photo blgo won't take my comment. Thanks for sharing. Anne

So the lemon pie was a lemon?! Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Yes, you should try! Your next lemon pie--with all your cooking experience--should be a bit hit!

Thanks for joining us for Marriage Monday today, Bethany.

I remember my first Lemon Merengie pie and how it was chewy! I remember thinking that it's supposed to melt in your mouth and slide down your throat effortlessly not sit like a lump in your throat! It's usually the flops that are the most memorable!

lol...Tami took the words right outta my keyboard on this one! I too made a flop of something in our newlyweds days but i didn't post about that!
I made irish soda bread. with a CUP of baking soda (which was right on the recipe card)...seems the wonderful SAHM who was all things maternal and wifely in my opinion, had made a mistake when typing it up...it should have said 1 tbl or something like that.....needless to say, even tho my gut told me that's alotta baking soda, i figured my friend was correct....UGH....we still laugh about that 20 years later!

It's fun to recall some of those first cooking experiences!
I used to overcook the meat so badly that my husband took over cooking the meat. That turned out to be a good thing, as we both got used to & enjoyed working in the kitchen together. He's still a great help, even today!

Bethany,

I am a terrible cook! I am ok with simple things but baking is just downright scary to me! lol

Josh and I love to make oatmeal cookies and one time we decided to make a double batch and for the life of me, I don't know what happened but they were the worst cookies ever! We joked about it all the time!

I get to see his sweet face in 16 days. I got a letter from him today...he hasn't mentioned getting your letter yet. I'll let you know as soon as he does.

Hope you and your family are doing well and your husband's job is doing well. I'm sorry I haven't been posting too much. I wound up in the hospital last week with my heart....and I really didn't want anything on the computer or FB or anything...I was so worried one of Joshua's friends would see something and write to him.

Well, I'm thinking of you. Big hugs to you, my friend. Love ya!

Love lemon pie! Funny how consistency can change the taste, isn't it?
