Thankful Thursday: Slow Down

Our hostess for Thankful Thursday this month is Laurie at Women Taking a Stand. She has chosen slow down for the theme today. And what perfect timing that is! I have had a full busy day and I'm thankful now to just stop and reflect on my blessings.

We live in a busy world. People are always on the go and connected. Too often I think we forget we need to just stop and rest. Even God rested after six days of creation. On the seventh day He rested. We also read in the Bible how Jesus would go off to a quiet place by Himself. We need to follow these examples and rest.

What are you thankful for today? Here are some of the things I'm giving thanks for today...

~ my husband's support. He has always been supportive of me and that is just an amazing, wonderful thing to me. I am thankful to know he is behind me cheering me on in the things I do.

~ my sweet son's excitement over books. We got to to to a book sale after school one day and he was so excited. We stopped first for some ice cream at Chick fil a and he told the girl in the play area, "we're going to a book sale after this." I loved how excited he was about getting more books!!

~ being able to continue to be at home. I have been thinking about this all week about what a blessing it is to be able to be here. There are just no words to express my thankfulness at this blessing.

~ the cooler weather. I love the cool breeze I've been feeling in the mornings.

~ making it through several "firsts" the past couple of weeks with Caleb in school. We are both adjusting well to our new schedule, I'm thankful for that.

Have a blessed day of thankfulness! I will leave you with this verse I saw on Debra's blog Wednesday night. God bless you!

"But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.

17 O my Strength, I sing praise to you;
you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God." Psalm 59:16, 17

I, too, have a wonderful supportive husband. I've said many times that my number one supporter on this earth is my husband. What a treasure he is!

Hope you have a great week!

Slowing down is a great theme, particularly with the pace of life today. I think I'll join in later today too. I'm glad I visited your blog. It's always good to read your thankful list.

These are such great thoughts Bethany... I SOOOOO needed a slow down, and I finally just had to do it! No one was going to make me!

Love the reminder about how even God had to rest..

Blessings!

I don't know why, but it's always such a blessing to hear how children love books. Hope your weekend is going great!
