Thankful Thursday: Rescue

Today our theme for Thankful Thursday is rescue. Join us over at Grace Alone today!

When I think of the word rescue, many things come to mind....a life preserver being thrown to someone who is in the water or a fairy tale princess being saved just in time by her wonderful prince. I also think of the time my Dad came to my rescue one night as we'd taken a walk down the road from our house. I was going downhill on my bike, took my feet off the pedals, and have the scar on my knee to remember that crash with the pavement! After it happened I remember thinking I didn't know my Dad could move so fast. He was up the hill from me when it happened, and he quickly came to my rescue and carried me home (I think he carried me, that seems like a long way to be carried!)

Jesus has rescued us from the pit of darkness and despair. We don't have to live in the pit since He came to the rescue! I'm so thankful for that!

This week I'm also thankful for...

~ my sweet husband who is so loving and shows such compassion. I've not felt totally well this week and he's been so concerned about it.

~ my wonderful kindergarten boy! He's having a good week for his first week of school. I'm so thankful! I'd prayed it would be a smooth transition. Thank You God for hearing our prayers!

~ God's timing. I love it that I get unexpected mail on the day I need it!

~ God's awesomeness. We talked with Caleb Wednesday night about God creating everything from nothing. It is great to think about His awesomeness.

~ fun we've had together playing the Wii.

Hope you are having a good week!

"Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness;
turn your ear to me and save me.

3 Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress." Psalm 71:2, 3

Wonderful thankful list and I am also amazed how God provides our needs with unexpected mail (or whatever)!

Isn't it amazing how fast dads can run when there kids are in danger?!?!!! Our son had a similar incident -- he was headed into the main street while trying to learn to ride his bike, and couldn't figure out how to stop. We still tease my husband about how fast he ran. . . not sure his feet ever touched the ground . . . but so thankful for the adrenaline rush (and the lack of traffic at that moment) that rescued our son.
