Thankful Thursday: Summer Fun

I hope your week has been blessed, and I hope you'll join us over at Lynn's in giving thanks today on Thankful Thursday. Lynn has chosen summer fun for this week's theme.

I always know when it is close to the beginning of summer and when it is close to school starting again. I guess it is the teacher in me. At this time of year I always feel the need to plan and write some lesson plans (even though I'm not teaching). It's just me! This summer I've been keenly aware of the days ticking off as we approach the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. At the end of this summer life as I've known it for the past five years will change drastically as Caleb begins school. I've been trying to enjoy the moments this summer with my boy and make the most of it.

Thinking about summer, I am thankful for trips up the road to get a cold snowcone on a hot day. I'm thankful for watermelon and fresh tomatoes from the garden. I am thankful for the farmer's market to enjoy other yummy produce. I'm thankful for story time at the library. I'm thankful for trips together as a family. I'm thankful for the fun memories I have of summers as a kid. I'm thankful for flip flops and going barefoot (is this the right word, barefeet?). I'm thankful for the way yards look that have just been mowed. I'm thankful for homemade ice cream. I'm thankful for staying up late and sleeping late too!

Also, I wanted to include things I'm thankful for this week:

~ my husband being so loving and appreciative of me. He makes me feel so special and loved.

~ my son saying funny things that make us laugh (like telling Daddy, "You don't get into any mischief while we're gone!")

~ cloudy days

~ getting to go to my Mom's, see my aunt and cousin, and the parade and stick horse rodeo last weekend. Such fun!

~ hanging clothes out to dry on the line.
