Wild West lessons with Caleb

The past two weeks Caleb and I have done "wild west" lessons. We drew pictures and read books from the library about cowboys. We made a little horse one day with a pattern my Mom gave us a while back, and a few days later we made a covered wagon with a box. Caleb had to draw cookie at the back. He learned from Daddy that was the name given to the cook on the range. I found the idea for a cactus with the "poky things" as Caleb says made of broken toothpicks. I wouldn't recommend this one for young children or a classroom project but for one on one it was fine. Caleb loved it as I knew he would when I saw the idea.

My boy loves to sing "Home on the Range." I thought of putting a clip of him on here but haven't got that done yet and don't have the microphone for the computer anymore to do that. It's really cute though!

Have a great week!

This is absolutely adorable!! I love it! I remember when Adam was turned 7 he had been in a BIG cowboy and "Go West Young Man" (MW Smith song) phase. He wore boots, flannel and cowboy hats for months. On his 7th birthday we had a Go West Young Man theme party. We got several of his buddies together and we went to a local dude ranch that did kids parties. Everyone got to ride horses and go on a hay ride. While we were out on the hay ride some "wild Indians" came up and "kidnapped him" off the wagon. We told him it was okay to go 'cause we knew where he was going. Then the wagoneer proceeded to take us to the barn where we found Adam waiting on all of us for birthday cake. He's 24 now and STILL talks about that party.

Have fun with Caleb. Keep building those memories.

That wagon looks awesome! And the cactus definitely looks like something ominous! lol
