Friday Favorites: My Prayer... song #2

I have loved this song for many years now. It is called "Legacy" by Nichole Nordemann. You may be familiar with it already. Here are the lyrics as well. This is a great video of the song. Sometimes I find one that isn't very well done but include it so you can hear the song if you want. I really like this video though. It gave me chills when it showed the teachers.

When I hear this song I am always reminded of what my legacy will be. What do I want people to say about me when I'm gone? This isn't something we normally talk about or discuss, but I think it is valuable to consider what legacy you are leaving behind.

I once read a little story through email where someone asked for a list of names of the MVP of a certain game or the winner of a certain contest. No one remembered those people. But when asked who was their favorite teacher or a memory of some special friend, everyone had an answer.

How do you want to be remembered? Will people remember that you had the highest number on your blog visitors (to make it relevant to blog world!)? Will people remember you had the fanciest house on the block? Will people remember you as the person with the sour face each time they saw you (as I type that question there are people I know who come to mind that I never see smile)? Will people remember you because of your wardrobe or hairdo? Will people remember you because of your bank account or salary? Will people remember that you received tons of awards in high school or college and were the best at _________? Are these the things you want people to remember?

Or will they remember you let your house go an extra day without cleaning so you could help an elderly neighbor? Will you be remembered because you took a meal to a family that just had a baby, even though it was freezing outside and it would have been nicer to stay inside? Will you be remembered because you took the time to write a note to a friend to tell them you appreciated them? Will you be remembered because you chose to forgive someone who had hurt you? Will you be remembered because you took time to listen to a kid at church that needed attention?

One of the lines says "Did I choose to love?" How often do we think about having a choice in loving? Sometimes it is hard to love certain people, but we do have that choice. The things on earth are fleeting, but we need to store up treasure in Heaven where thieves can't steal it and it won't be destroyed by "moth and rust."

I hope you're blessed by my sharing this song today and it has made you think about your own legacy.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:19, 20
As I look around my room this morning with piles of laundry to fold, summer clothes that still haven't made their way to the garage, a pile of stuff on my desk that should be filed, I am so thankful for your encouragement, that the legacy I leave behind ought to be more than a perfectly clean house!
I have had incredible opportunities this week to bless my neighbors, and friends, and even a couple of strangers across the country whom I've never met!
I would not give up those moments to fold a load of laundry, or clear my desk.
Thank you for encouraging me this morning to stay focused on that which is greater!
Thats right. She is proud that we have a garden and can thigns and that he picked that up from her.
Uh. What???
I hope and PRAY my heritage for my kids will be my passion for JESUS!!! Ihave a lot of work to go, but I hope one thing people always remember about me is how much I love my Heavenly Father.
Many blessings-GREAT question!
Oh... those comments. Yes, how I depend upon them to see if I am touching anyone's life via my blog... I wish I could say that I have gotten over it... but I haven't. I still have dear friends who refuse to get into the "whole blogging world" by even just reading my posts.
And then God says... Am I enough for you, Sheri? And I say, "Yes, Lord, but I want to see my legacy." And He says, He is my legacy.
Thank you for your thought provoking post today. Blessings!
