Lessons learned....

I've been tagged by Michele to share a lesson I've learned from my Mom or my children. Stop by her blog and see her answer.....

What to do: share with us and your readers a lesson that you learned from your own mom, a special mom in your life, or while raising your own children. There’s no right or wrong answers…just lessons that each of us can learn and implement with our own children. Link your post back to this one, leave a comment below so we can visit and learn from you, and then tag 2-3 other moms to participate.

Of course my Mom taught me many lessons. Two things come to mind that I'd like to share...

1. Let your light shine and always do your best. All my life I remember her telling me both of these things. It didn't matter where I was going or what activity I was attending she would say this to me. I knew that if I gave something my best and put my all into it that my parents would be proud.

I often think of these words and how they apply to me in everything I do even now. Do others see a light shining by my life? Have I done my best and given my all to this task?

Thinking about this now I wonder if kids have parents tell them do their best anymore.

2. It's just an inch. This is something else I learned from my Mom when I was in college. My freshman year (I think it was) I stayed for a class in May after the regular semester was over to get some more hours out of the way. I loved the class and the teacher, but the evenings were lonely. I missed home, my friends, my boyfriend (now husband) so much, and the weeks seemed long. It was then Mom told me that this was just for an inch of my life. I could make it through those weeks because in the big picture they really were not very long and just a little inch of time.

This is another thing I think of often now when something comes up that I don't particularly enjoy. I know I can make it through because it won't last forever and I can manage whatever it is for just an inch of time.

Now I'll tag a couple people-- Pamela, Natalie and Sarah. Join in if you'd like to answer the question on your blog too!! I enjoy reading these answers!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16
Thanks for the tag! My mom taught me so much, I'll need some time to think in order to narrow it down to just two.
