Friday Favorites: New Songs #2

Another new song I've heard recently on the radio is called "Empty Me" by Chris Sligh. I'm not familiar with this artist and didn't even know he'd been a contest on American Idol till I read a little bit about him. You can read the lyrics here. They are very powerful.

I think this song is a wonderful prayer we should pray as we strive to be more like Christ each day. We have to be empty of ourselves to that we can be filled with Him. I really like this line of the song: "‘Cause everything is a lesser thing Compared to You..." How true! When we line up our priorities with Christ at the top, this will be true in our lives as well. Nothing else matters like Him. There are so many things that compete for our time and attention. Sometimes we really have to work at keeping Him number one if we are honest. If He's not, we'll be full of ourselves, our pride, and our selfishness.

I found a beautiful video of this song on YouTube. He is singing the song at a wedding the side note says. Hope you enjoy it. Have a nice weekend! Pray for those who are about to face Hurricane Ike.
