Last week we made an Olympic flag, which was fun and turned out cute. He painted the rim of a Play Doh jar to make the circles. We also had a long jump and compared how far we could jump with the distances of the Olympic athletes.
We'll continue with the Olympic theme through this week. I have a couple more things I wanted to do with it and didn't want to start a new theme during this busy week we have planned. One of the things we'll do is compare five flags and know the countries they represent. He recognizes Japan because it was our class flag for VBS both times this summer.

May the Lord bless you as you teach your little ones. It has been one of my greatest joys!
What a great theme.
Do you have counting bears or chips? He could take the bears and put them inside the corresponding Olympic ring. Ofcourse they don't come in black, but you could take pieces of black construction paper cut out like bears. Or use construction paper for the whole sorting process.
Here I am, talking teacher to teacher. I just love this age! Of all the ages to teach, 4-8 years old are my favorite years.
Enjoy the time. It goes SO fast.
You know, I was planning our curriculum earlier this month and totally missed the Olympic theme. Oops! This week our theme is sharing.
So creative...I love that idea!
