Friday Favorites: Resurrection Song #2

For today's song I've chosen When I Survey The Wondrous Cross. The words to this song are very powerful in my opinion. It seems we see crosses all over....as art, decorations in homes, and especially jewelry. I've always wondered why people have such things in their homes, maybe as a reminder or just because they look pretty? I don't know. I do know though that the decorative crosses we see are not what the real cross was like. There was nothing aesthetically beautiful about it. But to know the purpose of the cross is such a powerful thing.

When we remember the cross and consider what happened there, how can we not be humbled? He gave His everything for us. Who are we to boast in ourselves, our accomplishments, our bank accounts, our knowledge? What would we be without His sacrifice? Has there ever been a greater love than when Christ hung on that cross? Nothing we could offer could compare to what's been already done for us. All He really wants anyway is each of us to come to Him to be totally and completely His. That is what this song means to me and reminds me of when we sing it.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend! We're looking forward to ours.

Oh, my, that is one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember when we sang that as a choir, I had tears in my eyes. It's such an amazing song!
