I finished another book this week. I have had Beth Moore's Get Out of That Pit on my "to read" list for a while now.
The theme verse of the book is Psalm 40:1-3, which says:
1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
I enjoyed reading this book as I have enjoyed everything by Beth Moore so far. She writes about three ways you get into a pit and three steps to getting out of a pit. The ideas here went along with the things I remember from the Breaking Free study. This book has made me interested in doing a study sometime in the future on the various pits mentioned in the Bible.
I'd recommend this book to anyone struggling with anything that holds you back from the full potential of what God has for your life. Those "pits" may seem small and insignificant to us but God doesn't want us living our lives in a pit. He wants to help us out!

I'm about halfway through this book right now and loving it. Sadly, I have to say I have experienced going into the pit several different ways mentioned in the book.
