I turned in another set of book reviews for children's books for the program at my Mom's school. She warned me when she gave me the stack that she didn't think they were as good as the others. It made me laugh when she said that..... but I have to agree! There were a couple in the set I thought were just weird. I guess they just weren't my taste. Here are a few of the books:
The one I liked the least was called Chicky Chicky Chook Chook by Cathy MacLennan. It has three reviews on Amazon, and they were all positive. There are other rhyming/onomatopoeia books I enjoy, but this one just didn't click for me. Maybe it was the illustrations, I'm not sure. The book is about kittens, chicks, and bees playing on a sunny day and then it starts to rain.
Bounce by Doreen Cronnin is cute. I didn't like it really the first time I read it, but the second time it started growing on me. I can see children in a classroom bouncing along with the pup in the book. I loved the ending line "It’s better to have bounced and bumped….than never to have bounced at all!”
My favorite of the set is Pip & Squeak by Ian Schoenherr. The cover and illustrations really drew me into the book. Pip and Squeak are little mice on their way to a birthday party for Gus when they realize they didn't bring their gift of cheese for him. They find something else that Gus enjoys more than cheese. This is one I wouldn't mind reading again and again.

I read this passage today from Psalms. I wanted to share the whole thing here. I love how verse 1 is repeated at the end. As I read that I thought of all the ways the Lord's name fills the earth.
O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.
You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—
the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals,
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.
O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Psalm 8:1--9 NLT

I appreciate you sharing the things that you learn from your Bible studies. I am in need of that encouragement and example.
