Today we took Caleb to the dentist. We started the day with our normal Wednesday morning routine. I didn't tell him we were going because I didn't want him to be nervous all morning. We knew that he knew something was up, though, when he kept asking "What are we doing next?" at lunch. It was his first trip to the dentist, and he was such a big boy. I wasn't sure how much he would let them do. The office staff was very friendly and made him feel comfortable so that made me feel better. Caleb sat in Daddy's lap and have his teeth checked and cleaned. At the end they tried to do the x-rays. Caleb gagged when they put the film in his mouth so she stopped. The dentist said he had beautiful teeth and to keep brushing and add flossing. He was pretty happy to get two new toothbrushes (one of which has a cool little Lego man and stickers inside the handle), toothpaste, and his own floss. He asked if he got to keep the floss in his own bathroom. We are so proud of our big boy!
I remember from my childhood trips to the dentist always being a positive experience for me, and I want the same for him. I'm glad to be off to a good start.

Denali just got in trouble for playing with his toothpaste. He had been playing extremely quietly for about 20 minutes. Now I know why. He hopefully won't do it again!
